Ayamonte is a fascinating little riverside Spanish town where you really feel as though you are abroad. La Laguna square is a meeting place for families of all ages every evening and sitting in one of the bars, restaurants, cafes or ice cream parlours round the square gives a lovely happy atmosphere. The general quality of food served in the town is very high compared to Britain and to may other holiday resorts. The old town has a nice mixture of proper shops, souvenir shops and useful shops should you be self catering. In addition there is a daily fresh produce market. The river with its many small fishermen, its ferries its yachts and its excursion boats creates an ever-changing panorama for holiday makers with time on their hands.
